Vibrating Dog Collars Deaf Dogs
does anyone know anything about vibrating training collars for dogs?
I have a three years old Airdale who is so “into the big wide world” that his recall sucks… I am getting frustrated and am considering a remote shock collar but want to do all my homework first. I have heard of vibrating collars to train deaf dogs but was wondering how they would be for a Stubborn Happy Go Lucky Airedale. I think this sound more humane than the shock collar so I need to now about this type of collar…
You can train a reliable recall without using any kind of training collar. Using positive reinforcement (and really understanding how this works) and finding what motivates your dog is all you really need. Well, that and the commitment to make it work. Try reading some books about how dogs learn: Karen Pryor’s Don’t Shoot the Dog and Jean Donaldson’s Culture Clash are good starts.

Good luck.
