The Dog Collar Museum
With a remake of the “Dambusters” film in the offing how do you feel about the name of the commanding officers?
dog being kept as Nigger (the dog was a black Labrador)
If you go to the RAF museum at Hendon in North London you can actually see the dogs collar, if you go to RAF Scampton you can visit Niggers grave
I know its not very ‘PC’ these days, but you cant change the history books. They might just have to be subtle about the dog and avoid its name being used.
I saw the dogs grave outside the old 617 Sqn HQ at Scampton in the late 70′s, not sure if its still there though as the Sqn moved to Lossimouth.
