Petsafe Dog Collar Instructions

Why is my bark control collar not working?

I bought the Petsafe Bark Control Collar today for my pomeranian as a last resort to keep her tame while walking her. I put the collar on as tight as it could safely go (snug), and was told by the instruction pamphlet to “trim” her hair on the connection points. So, I cut her hair down to the skin on her neck where the connection points sit, and it doesn’t work. Before I cut her hair I tested it out and it seemed to work once, where she barked and flinched. Since that one time, it hasn’t worked at all, and the battery is fine because it says to test it until you hear a beep, and it beeps fine. Also, it automatically adjusts itself to the dog’s bark, so there is no manual adjusting that can be made. Any suggestions? Has anyone else tried this collar and received similar results? I’ve followed every direction that was given in the book.

Make sure it is sitting on your dog’s vocal cords, A dog I fostered once came with one and it wouldn’t work sometimes because it wasn’t on his vocal cords. If your dog will bark on command or you know how to make her bark hold her neck while she does it place the collar at the part that vibrated the most, otherwise her bark wont be strong enough to make it work.

Edit- Before all the animal activist get to you, they are perfectly safe and should be used only as a last measure, some dogs do require them. We have an aggressive one we have to use one on, if we didn’t he would require putting down, sometimes these collars can fix things nothing else can.
