Hunting Dog Collars Leads
My Dog won’t stop pulling on his leash , no matter what i have done to correct this ..?
my dog is a 2 year old basset hound and is well trained sits on command, stay, and come but once on his leash he think he going to get some where faster by pulling to the point of choking him self, I have consult 2 Dog trainers and read many book, but he just doesn’t get it, I’ve only had him about 7 months or so..I ‘ve tried correction collars, which I feel he just forget about the correction 2-3 min later and I feel bad having to correct him entire walk it like quick jerk every 2-3 mins and he still tries to lead the way , now at times he will heal with no problem so I feel because he a hunting dog breed it’s an instinct for him to lead …Oh I tried to use treats and toys also to keep him on my side and reward him for doing so but he gets distracted by the environment easily .. ..When I tell him to heal in an indoor environment he will stay at my side as long as there is nothing to distract him …I just would like him not to pull on the leash so much for my arms sake and his
Do NOT use a harness, they are meant to train dogs to pull.
Get a prong collar and make sure it is on right, high and tight, then go for a walk. I can promise you that the first time you correct him with a hard yank will be the last time he will pull.
Prongs work when most other tools fail..try one and see for yourself! Good luck.
