Dog Collars To Stop Pulling
What can stop my dog from constantly pulling on his leash?
We’ve tried everything. Going the other way when he pulls, stopping and making him sit, bungee leashes that brings him back, and finally relented into a pronged collar. The collar worked great for a little while but now has no effect. We’ve tried condemning actions when he’s doing something wrong, praising when he’s doing something right…He’s been to obedience training too. Any ideas?
I can understand how you’d think I might not being doing things well, but we’re extremely consistent. Our tone of voice is right, as well as our posture, etc.
He’s a german shephard/lab mix, that just turned a year old.
We definitely don’t give in to the bad behavior. If he starts to get really hyper, we walk the other way, or pull him back to us.
Thanks for all the suggestions though, keep them coming!
Dogs are creatures of habits. If he’s been to obedience training, you may want to check what you’ve been missing. Try walking at a constant speed and get him used to it. Any type of collar will do so long as you keep walking at a constant speed. You didn’t mention what breed you have because some breeds are easy to train and some are not. Being consistent is the key to dog training. Best wishes.
