How can I cure a hot spot on my dog’s tail?

He is constantly trying to lick it and we already bought medecine for him, what can we do to prevent him from licking or nibbling at it. We asked at Petco and they said a cone collar won’t work because it’s on his tail and he can wrap it around his body to his mouth.

I’ve been there. He started getting one after he had some stress. I tried the spray they sold at Petco, but he licked it off. I took him to the vet and he gave me some pills that stopped it from itching and kept it from getting infected.
