Dog Collars Lupine
martingale collars cruel?
I saw it again- someone condemning martingale collars as cruel – why? I fail to understand… this is a LIMITED slip designed to never tighten strangle tight while still tightening enough to hold the dog. they are considered the only safe collar to walk a small-headed sighthound on since virtually any other collar is prone to being slipped should the dog spot a rabbit. Lupine in fact sells theirs as “greyhound collars”. The specialty ones made by fanciers (2″ wide & padded) are the least likely collar to harm the dog too!
The thing is, any collar can be a dangerous tool in the hands of someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Alternatively, any collar (prong, martingale, choker, buckle) can also be a great training tool in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing.
But yes there are a lot of extremists out there who are against any sort of collar other than buckle. Education is key.
