Dog Collars Buckle

Are shock collars cruel to use on an older DOG who barks alot?
We have an older St. Bernard at work that barks when UPS etc comes in the building. A girl that works there told my boss she was a trainer. I saw the stupid girl go over to the dog and yank his collar until the dogs legs buckled. She then slapped the crap out of the dog 3 times. Furious, I went to my boss and told her it was animal abuse NOT training. I told her a professional licensed trainer from the outside needs to train the dog without hitting him !!!!!! Well she confronted the girl and the result is she is STILL letting her train the dog. She told her I was exagerating. Now the girl told my boss when she is not there to train him to use a shock collar on him. She expects whoever sits up front to use it on the dog. I am so disgusted I don’t know what to do.
If this is a genuine situation then good for you for speaking up. Hitting a dog is most certainly abuse. There can never be any justification for hitting a dog. Barking at someone who comes into the building is natural behavior, he is just warning the rest of his “pack”. A proper trainer would never treat a dog in this way.
There can be extreme circumstances where shock collars are appropriate but barking at someone is absolutely not one of them.
I have to say that if I was told that someone hit my dog I would be outraged and I would never want that person anywhere near me or my dog again.
