What to do about dog collar?

I have a small chi x and I love to take him for walks around town and such. My only problem about it is that he has a regular neck collar. I don’t remember where but I heard that they were bad for small dogs throats because it could possibly crush their trachea? Should I switch to a harness instead? Thanks!

For every day wear no a collar is not going to crush your dogs trachea. If your dog is properly trained and not lunging against the collar then not its not going to cause a problem for walks either. For most dogs even small ones a collar is not going to cause a problem. The only dogs I personally recommend walking on a harness are those that have a history of tracheal collapse.
