Dog Aggression handling tips.?

Hi all we have an aggressive hard-headed GSD, we have consulted with a professional and have had great results ever since.
He use to be aggressive to humans and dogs..now he is pretty good with people but still aggressive with dogs.
We have started the desensitization stage to the trainers bait dogs.
He pulls when he gets closer to the dog, we have a prong collar for him which works great as i can handle him with one hand.
Any tips on preventing the dog from escalating his aggression? takes him like 1/2 seconds to go off)
And any tips for things we can do at home to help us better our relationship with him?
Anything would be greatly appreciated.

When desensitizing my gsd mix to other dogs, I found his “reaction zone”. I watched him during walks to see how close to another dog we would get before he started focusing on the other dog. Once I found that point, I would take him to it and as soon as he started the obsession stare, I would immediately give him either a leash correction, or a sharp tap on his shoulder to distract him. You just have to snap him out of it before he even has a chance to really zone in on the other dog.
As soon as you see those ears go forward, and that intense stare starting up, stop and distract him.
Once he goes off, then that’s it; you’ve just lost control and you’ll have to try again. The goal is to catch him when he starts watching the other dog, not when he starts escalating to barking. You want to nip it in the bud and correct the reaction before it even happens.
I found that the more I trained his mind to not get focused on the other dogs, the closer we could get, and the longer it would take him to respond. I’m not saying it’s a walk in the park, either. It took me the better part of 4 months to be able to walk past a dog’s house with minimal reacting, but it does work.
