hey any vets out there? my dog has a problem…?

hi, my dog is a Chihuahua / Italian greyhound mix and he keeps picking at his collar so i took it off him and saw a huge scabby rash on him. he keeps picking at it, what should i do?

Rashes around the neck area could be caused by a number of things. His collar could have been a bit too tight, causing it to rub, or he could have an allergy to a material in the fabric.

Other causes could be mange (caused by mites below the skin), or fleas (many people don’t even realize their pets have fleas).

The best you can do is take him in for an exam, as no one can diagnose his issue except a veterinarian. He/she can treat accordingly after finding the source of the skin infection.
