Tips on what to put on a dog’s collar

I was wondering if you legally were required to display your dog’s rabies tag on his collar. I have a 4.5 month old Dachshund and the is almost too big for his collar but of course I’m willing to put it on there if necessary. Also, what info is good to have on an ID tag? Right now I just have his name and my phone number but have heard various ideas on what other info is needed. Suggestions?

Yes, you will want to put his rabies tag on his collar. I am not sure if it is required by law, but you will want it there anyway.
Also put his county license on his collar. Where I live, it is required that all dogs have a license, and if you are out with your dog without their license, then you will get fined Although I have never been pulled aside and asked by a cop to see my dog’s license, nor have I heard of it happening to anyone, it’s something to always keep in mind-and also if your dog gets lost, it is much easier for them to find you that way.
For the ID, I always just put my address and phone number. Or I will put “If lost, call” and then my phone number rather than his name.
