Question about the gentle leader collar?

I have a large breed dog he is pit bull, boxer, sheperd mix. When I take him on runs and walks he pulls, and he has such a short attention span he loves chasing birds and getting attention from people and other animals that pass us by making it impossible to just go on a normal walk.
So I’m trying out the gentle leader collar for the first day today, and so far he hates it. I took him on a walk and he would stop every few feet and try to pull it off of his nose he’ll rub into the ground and its so much worse than before. has anyone else had these problems with the gentle leader? Did your dog get used to it? I put it on correctly as far as the manula showed me and its not loose around his nose but not tight either.
No I didn’t watch the movie I’ll go do that now. I just read the manual.

Definately read everything and watch everything that comes with the GL. The fit is the most important thing so as long as you get that right, you are half way there.

I had a trainer say to me once that it’s like a kid getting a new pair of glasses. I think that’s a great way to describe how dogs react. It’s not that they hate it, but more that is something new and kinda funny feeling.

Have your pooch start to wear it for short bursts of time and gradually increase the time. Everytime the GL goes on, something AWESOME happens like a super duper good treat or a tennis ball or a car ride or a walk…whatever is the gold prize for you dog.

Eventually he’ll get used to it and see it as the signal for walk time. It’s worth the time investment for sure! My pittie mixes love to see me take the GL’s out of the drawer now because they know it time to go to the park!
