Get a proper sized buckle collar for the tags, that he wears 24/7, and a harness for walking him. You can order tags over the internet or most pet stores have tag engraving things right in the store
The only time I ever take my dogs’ collars off is when I’m bathing/grooming them or washing the collars. You never know when your dog will accidentally slip out of the house and if he’s not wearing his collar you most likely will never see him again. Also get your dog micro-chipped so if he ever runs away/gets stolen it’s easier for someone to get him back to you and you have a way to prove ownership.
