best way to quiet a barking dog?

He didn’t use to be so bad, but I moved to an area with alot of squirrels, dogs and traffic….even airplanes set him off. I tried a collar that zapped him but a spot on his neck is getting raw. What else can I do?

try a citronella collar, works simiilar to the zapping one you mention which I was never game enough to buy. The collars nozzle sprays a small quantity of the mozzie repelling stuff in the dogs face when the sensor is activated. It is momentarily unleasant for most dogs and evetually they get the picture. You can take it off when there is improvement and then as soon s it happens again place the collar back on until you dog understands its not acceptable. I think I paid about 40 for mine, 10 to replace canister of spray and 3 for batteries
