Help…my dog wants to eat everything!?

My border collie mix (8months old) has been good up until about mid-december. He is an inside/outside country dog. In December he decided that he wanted to eat all the christmas lights as part of his christmas cheer! He ate every bit of them…wires, bulbs, plug-ins. Luckily, that didn’t kill him! He has decided that killing chickens is fun! And he has also decided that it is fun to chew on kittens until they are soaking wet, and they freeze to death. This is getting hard to deal with. I have scolded him, I have put him in time-out…he has balls, and chew toys, and bones…everything a dog could ask for. And we play fetch with him every afternoon and before dark again. He’s happy outside, because if he is inside, he will lay by the door until we let him out…and he can’t stay inside because he sheds so bad and it makes me break out in hives. What do I do with this dog. We have ordered a shock collar as a last resort, but what else can I do!?

he’s bored. border collies are really smart and super active. try getting him into agility, or at least put together some stuff in your yard for him thats like that. it gives him a task to learn and he’s too tied up to eat the kitten. maybe try some things he can run around and jump over

ps. time outs dont really work. they dont really understand it, its a human thing. and i really dont think the shock collar will work for this (i’m not against them in any means either)
