How do I put rivets on a brass name plate for dog collar?

I have new dog collar and a name plate to fasten on with rivets that came with it, but cannot figure out how to fasten rivets on collar?

Hi, I don’t know if you have 1 piece or 2 piece rivets. On one piece ones they are put through a hole and then whacked with a hammer while they are on a solid surface, this expands the bottom to hold them in place. See if that looks like it would work.
Please remove the collar from the dog before you whack it.
